CISG-online is a research platform dedicated to the law and practice of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods adopted in Vienna on 11 April 1980 (CISG), as well as related areas of international commercial law.
The CISG has currently been adopted by 97 Contracting States world-wide. Its rules can also apply to contracts involving parties from non-Contracting States.
CISG-online collects and makes available case law that has interpreted and applied the CISG in jurisdictions throughout the world as well as in arbitral proceedings. With its current coverage of 7038 decisions (6091 court decisions from 72 jurisdictions and 947 arbitral awards), CISG-online ranks among the most comprehensive collections of CISG case law available today.
In addition, the platform provides access to documents from the Convention's legislative history (travaux préparatoires), to all abstracts on CISG cases published by UNCITRAL's "Case Law on UNCITRAL Texts" (CLOUT) system (accessible via the Search for cases), and to the UNCITRAL Digest on the CISG. It also contains a Bibliography on the CISG.
CISG-online is a project developed and maintained by Professor Dr. Ulrich G. Schroeter and his team at the Faculty of Law of the University of Basel (Switzerland). It receives valuable support from a group of international contributors and is an institutional CLOUT partner.
CISG-online is a pro bono project for the benefit of the global community of commercial lawyers. It is accessible free of charge. No registration is required.
