Coordinated Grid Planning Working Group

On May 14, 2020, the Public Service Commission initiated a proceeding to develop and consider proposals for implementing the provisions of the Accelerated Renewable Energy Growth and Community Benefit Act with respect to distribution and transmission upgrades, capital expenditures and planning. A Coordinated Grid Planning Process proposal was filed in the proceeding on December 17, 2021 by Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp., Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc., Long Island Power Authority, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation d/b/a National Grid, New York State Electric & Gas Corporation, Orange & Rockland Utilities, Inc., and Rochester Gas and Electric Corporation. Department of Public Service Staff convened a technical conference on January 27, 2022 to discuss the filing and explore options for further stakeholder engagement on the proposal. Following the conference, Staff established the Coordinated Grid Planning Working Group to provide a forum for interested stakeholders to participate in refining and finalizing the Coordinated Grid Planning Process proposal.
